Backup process

The backup process is performed with the following phases:

• The client connects to the backup server
• A Shadow Copy of the volume with the data to be backed up is created to protect them (this feature is only for Windows platforms)
• The list of the files to protect is downloaded by the Backup Server
• Data present on the Backup Server gets matched with those downloaded to create these lists:
• New files list
• Modified files list
• Deleted files list
• If needed, a Delta file is create (it uploads to the server only the part of data modified)
• Data is encrypted, compressed and uploaded to the Backup Server
• If present, the Shadow Copy is removed
• Backup complete!
